Rock Cakes presents an intergenerational exchange of a family recipe through spoken word and video. The work firstly depicts a gestural performance of the artist following her Grandma’s instructions. The family recipe in this work is interpreted as a conduit for connecting to what is passed down or shared.

Jessica then recites the memory of visiting her Grandma’s house. The interplay between the two parts proposes new ways of how we connect with those closest to us and to feelings of sentiment.
